The talented musician Damien Curry, who is well-known for combining electronic music and live instrumentation, is creating waves once more with a powerful new remix. The producer and performer based in Los Angeles recently released his first remix work, a progressive house-inspired remix of Prince's original version of the Vanity 6 popular song "Sex Shooter."

And while Damien Curry is no stranger to crafting original music, boasting two decades of experience ghostwriting for television shows, composing for major television productions, this marks his first official foray into remix culture. “This is my very first remix,” Damien Curry explains. “I’ve been creating original music my entire life and never really explored remixing. I didn’t come from a world of sampling, so the artform had mostly been off my radar. But it turned out to be wildly more fun than I anticipated.”

The result? A fresh, dance-floor-ready take on a classic that pays homage to Prince’s brilliance while giving the track a brand-new pulse fit for the global house music scene.

The idea for the remix didn’t strike Curry in the studio, it found him at a house music event in Los Angeles. “I was out at a party when Prince’s version of ‘Sex Shooter’ just popped into my head,” he recalls. “I started wondering what it would sound like as a house track. That rawness and grit in his version really stuck with me, and I felt inspired to give it new life in a different context.” Damien Curry points out that the majority of Prince remixes draw inspiration from the artist's more popular pop songs. However, Damien Curry purposefully decided to recreate a deeper cut for this remix, Prince's original rendition of "Sex Shooter," which wasn't released until a few years ago. This decision allowed him more freedom to approach the remix from a fresh creative perspective and introduce a lesser-known vocal to a modern audience.

“If It Feels Good,” Damien’s recent original release, showcased his hybrid DJ style, mixing live performance with deep house and techno. But this “Sex Shooter” remix marks a pivotal moment in his career, representing a bold leap into a new dimension of musical expression.

“This remix is the beginning of a whole new era for me,” Damien Curry says. “Reimagining music from someone like Prince gave me a creative spark I didn’t expect. It reminded me that music doesn’t have to be planned or perfect, it just has to feel right.” And in true Damien Curry fashion, it does feel right. His version of “Sex Shooter” keeps the seductive energy of the original while layering in hypnotic rhythms, deep grooves, and an unmistakably modern edge. It’s already turning heads in LA’s underground music scene and is expected to pick up steam on dance playlists around the globe.

Fans and newcomers alike can now stream “Sex Shooter (Damien Curry Remix)“ exclusively and even download it for free on Damien Curry’s SoundCloud. This remix isn’t about sales or charts; it’s a gift to the music community, a way for Damien to give back with something bold, fresh, and creatively daring. As he continues to push the limits of genre and performance, one thing is certain: Damien Curry is just getting started. Whether behind the decks, in the studio, or live on stage, his name is one that will keep resonating through West Hollywood and beyond.
