Bill Nye Receives Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Bill Nye, the beloved science communicator who made learning fun for millions, has officially earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The honor was unveiled during a special ceremony on Monday, celebrating his decades of work in inspiring curiosity and passion for science.

From Engineer to “The Science Guy”

Before becoming a household name, Nye worked as an engineer at Boeing. His career took a creative turn when he launched the Emmy-winning TV series Bill Nye the Science Guy, which became a staple of science education in the 1990s and continues to influence generations today.

A Message of Passion, Beauty, and Joy

During the ceremony, Nye reflected on his lifelong mission: “All of my work… OK, maybe almost all of my work is the celebration of the PB & J — the passion, beauty and joy of science. Thank you all so much. Let’s change the world!”

Celebrated by Friends and Fans

The event was attended by actor Joel McHale, NBA star Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics, and comedian Ross Shafer, all paying tribute to Nye’s influence across science, entertainment, and culture.

Continuing His Legacy

Beyond television, Nye has remained deeply committed to advancing science. Since 2010, he has served as CEO of The Planetary Society, a nonprofit co-founded by Carl Sagan, where he champions space exploration and scientific discovery.
