Fran Drescher Celebrated With Walk of Fame Star

Fran Drescher, the beloved actress and comedian best known for her role in the hit sitcom “The Nanny”, has been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony, held on Tuesday in Los Angeles, was made even more special as she was surrounded by her former castmates from the iconic 1990s series that made her a household name.

A Reunion With ‘The Nanny’ Cast

Several of Drescher’s former co-stars attended the event, including Nicholle Tom and Madeline Zima, who played Maggie and Gracie Sheffield, the children Drescher’s character famously cared for in the series. Both actresses praised her not only as a co-star but also as a mentor and role model.

“Nicholle Tom shared that Drescher was her mentor during her formative years, guiding her from age 14 to 21 with honesty and kindness. Zima added, ‘Today we honor Fran for everything she has given us: laughter, glamour, advocacy, heart, and the powerful reminder that being loud, proud, and true to yourself is the most powerful thing you can be.’”

A Career Beyond ‘The Nanny’

Drescher, who turned 68 on the day of the ceremony, co-created and executive produced “The Nanny”, where she portrayed a cosmetics saleswoman who unexpectedly became the nanny for the children of a wealthy widower. The role earned her two Golden Globe nominations and two Emmy Award nominations, solidifying her status as one of television’s most recognizable comedic talents.

From Actress to Union Leader

Her influence extends well beyond entertainment. In September 2021, Drescher was elected national president of SAG-AFTRA, the world’s largest actors’ union. Under her leadership, she played a pivotal role in the 2023 Hollywood strikes, advocating for fair wages and better working conditions for actors and writers.

A Star That Symbolizes Legacy

The Hollywood Walk of Fame star—number 2,822—marks not only her accomplishments in entertainment but also her impact as a leader and advocate. “Fran has brought joy and laughter to millions with her unforgettable performances, while also showing tremendous strength and dedication as a leader for her fellow artists,” said Ana Martínez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies.

With this recognition, Fran Drescher’s legacy as both a performer and trailblazer in the industry has been permanently cemented on Hollywood Boulevard.
