Antony Starr Says Goodbye to Homelander as ‘The Boys’ Wraps Final Season

Antony Starr is officially hanging up the cape as Homelander with the end of filming for The Boys’ fifth and final season.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Starr shared that he had been “waiting a little to let things settle and try and process the end of this show.” Calling it “truly… the highlight of my career,” the actor reflected on the journey that began without any idea of the cultural juggernaut the series would become.

“It never stopped,” Starr wrote, “except for that Covid moment. Oh and the strikes. That was a thing too. But apart from those two times, it never stopped, boldly making its mark on the television landscape. There’s nothing else like it. It lives in its own lane.”

A Role That Redefined a Career

Starr expressed deep affection for both the show and the character, saying he would “dearly miss heading to work” and the unpredictable, creatively rewarding days on set. Portraying Homelander — the complex and infamous leader of the Seven — offered him opportunities to “discover and push boundaries” in ways he never expected.

Since its debut, The Boys has stood out in the superhero genre for its gritty tone, sharp satire, and morally complex characters, with Homelander at the center as one of television’s most chilling antiheroes.

The final season of The Boys is yet to premiere, meaning fans will still have one last chance to see Starr’s Homelander take to the skies.
